Robert L. Shapiro is President of Master Development, Inc. (“MASDEV”), a South Florida based retail development company which specializes in developing “in-fill” neighborhood and community shopping centers in southeastern Florida. MASDEV currently owns or has under contract over 10 separate developments in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Florida, comprising over 2 million square feet of retail space. Each development is being joint ventured with Woolbright Development, Inc. of Boca Raton, Florida.

 

MASDEV was organized in January 2002 by Mr. Shapiro, who from 1991 to 2001, was a Principal Partner and Chief Operating Officer/Director of Development of The LEFMARK Group. LEFMARK liquidated its assets after successfully developing over twenty (20) properties with more than three million square feet of gross leasable area, having an aggregate value of over $300 million.

 

Mr. Shapiro is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with a J.D. law degree from the University of Connecticut Law School, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. A resident of Miami since 1971, Mr. Shapiro practiced law with the Myers Kenin and Greenberg Traurig law firms until 1981 when he founded his own law firm. Since 1986, Mr. Shapiro has been primarily involved in retail acquisition and development having been responsible for the development of over five million square feet of retail space in South Florida.

 

Mr. Shapiro has been a frequent panelist regarding retail redevelopment at seminars of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Florida Redevelopment Association and the Florida Board of Realtors.
